During her appearance on The View, Foster explained why she chose not to reveal her acting career to her kids while they were growing up.

"I don’t know why, I guess I just didn’t want them to know me that way," Foster told the panel. She wanted her sons to see her as their mom, a person who went away to work, without getting confused about her profession.

Foster shared a humorous anecdote about briefly diverting her older son's attention. She brought him to the set when he was around 3 years old, bought him a little plastic tool belt, and pointed out various sets, leading him to believe she was a construction worker for a while.

The actress emphasized her desire to be primarily known to her children as a mom rather than a Hollywood figure. The interview shed light on Foster's protective and down-to-earth approach to parenting.
